Last Wednesday, I saw hundreds of Mobillians pour out of office buildings, restaurants, and day cares to line the downtown streets. Many of the midmorning crowds were standing in their proud colors of red, white, and blue. Others were carrying framed photos of decorated solders from generations before their time. I was there helping the Exchange Club of Mobile hand out small American flags along the parade route. Now, I have always loved parades, maybe its because I am from a small town and we simply can’t resist a good parade. But when I learned about this opportunity, I was thrilled to be apart.
7 Simple Reasons You Should Have a Facebook Fan Page:
5 Tips You Can Count On for Success
By: Amanda Sibert
If you are like me, the thought of having a fan page is almost cringe inducing. Why would I need a fan page? After all, I am not a celebrity or a world renowned brand. And who needs fans? Just the word conjures up screaming teenage girls chasing a One Direction tour bus. Get that out of your mind. Instead try to view your fans as your people, your community, your tribe. These are the people who are potential brand ambassadors for your product or image. And with these important reasons I hope to help you consider the unlimited possibilities of what fan pages have to offer: Social Media Mobile Alabama
1. Facebook is all about the interaction.
Fan pages allow for open communication with an unlimited audience. That’s right, there aren’t any limits to how many fans you can have on your page unlike a personal page. The greatest gift you can get from your fan page is the ability to interact with your audience in a more meaningful way.
Facebook is a platform that requires more social engagement, so get chatty with your fans! Every like, comment, click, or share you acquire tells the guys at Facebook you are worthy to be shared with more fans and their friend’s news feeds. Increase the interaction, increase your traffic. And traffic, is good my friend.
Ask your fans questions like Serda's Coffee Co. that will boost interest in your products and create a buzz people want to be apart of!
2. Fan Pages show what happens behind the scenes.
Fan pages give you the opportunity to show what is going on behind the curtain. Post photos and videos of your staff being silly or show what your work area looks like. All of those little bits of content will humanize your brand and make you more relatable to your audience.
Check out the crew over at The Ol' Curiosities & Book Shoppe and how they use behind the scenes photos on their Facebook fan page to show new events and create excitement for their store.
3. It boosts your SEO presence.
When you use your fan page regularly, you create a reputation online of having fresh and engaging content that will put your posts and page higher up in google searches which will result in higher traffic.
The best example to view SEO is to say you have built a gorgeous mansion. You have spent years carefully crafting every room, choosing the décor for every square inch, and even landscaped the exterior with bright flowers. But the problem is you have no roads leading to your new home. No one can travel to reach it and no one knows where it is located. In fact, its not even on a map. That can be your business. Beautifully crafted but with zero roads leading to the page, it is never seen. Using Facebook fan pages, you create a road through Google for new customers to find you!
4. Unlimited content upload.
This is a big perk for your blog, business, or personal fan page. Unlimited videos, unlimited photos, and unlimited posts! Through the ability to post as much as you want allows for you to create a trademark brand that gives instant recognition to your page and brand.
5. Promote your events.
Let’s say you are a boutique owner and are hosting an after hours shopping night with champagne, refreshments, and out of this world deals. Your fan page would be the perfect place to share this exciting event! Additionally, you could add a special promotion strictly for your Facebook fans that will add value to your page as well as drive shoppers to your page to further their experience with your business.
6. Facebook page insights.
If you aren’t using Facebook page insights or have no idea what it is: listen up! Page insights are the data for your page that make up the bread and butter of what you should be posting. It will show you which of your posts are getting the most engagement, when your audience is on Facebook, and will even provide metrics on how your page is performing.
Say you run a hair salon and are posting daily photo makeovers of your customers. After a few weeks you start to see on your Facebook insights that the posts you make at 8 o clock at night of your happy customer’s new hair cuts receive 30 more interactions than when you post at 2 in the afternoon. THAT is the power of Facebook insights.
7. It’s free!
It is hard to believe but its true, its free! Fan pages cost you nothing to set up and will without a doubt help you grow your business or blog.
Tips to success:
1. Create a memorable cover photo like these businesses:
2. Try a giveaway! If you offer art classes, give a class away to a fan on your page with a contest! It not only engages your audience but promotes traffic to your website that will give you a boost in SEO. Win/Win!
3. Welcome your new fans. Your "about me" section should start off with a welcome note to new visitors. You want them to feel appreciated and excited to view your fan page. This will keep them coming back time and time again.
4. Videos, videos, videos! If a picture says a thousand words, imagine the possibilities with moving content. It immediately draws you in and gives you the unique opportunity to show who you and your business are.
5. Be YOU! Your Facebook fan page, whether its a blog, business, or a celebrity profile, needs YOUR voice. This is what makes you stand out from any other fan page on the market.
Being unique = dedicated audience = more traffic = Success!
